	News - Mayor's reception On the 16th December, the Mayor said thank you again, by holding a reception in his parlour above Saxon Square. Money Mayor's cheque received with thanks (2009) On Wednesday 28th October a cheque for £3200 was presented to Clr David Flagg at the Thomas Tripp pub in Christchurch. The weather was ideal over the three days, changing from hot and humid on the Thursday and back to the usual windy showers on the Monday. People turned up in their thousands. The bar had to call out for extra supplies several times and more than three hogs were eaten on Saturday at the hog roast. All the bands turned up on schedule and the revellers had a whale of a time. On Saturday, many dance troops performed in Saxon Square, Church Street and around the bandstand. Thanks to Les from the Thomas Tripp pub for this photo (view from bar). Dates Next years festival (2010) is the: 2nd, 3rd, & 4th July Help Wanted - Do you want to get involved ? Volunteers are required on the event days over the weekend for a variety of duties. But also for the setup and breakdown days which start on the Thursday till Monday / Tuesday. The event days duties include manning gates, stewarding, back stage....etc etc. On setup days:- see YouTube video (above), this gives a flavour of the activities involved. Perks may be a few beers and possibly some food, that's all! Note:- Stewarding / gate duty is not full time, and a few hours per day would be most helpful. However it's good fun, but hard work.
