About the Festival
Christchurch Festival has been a regular feature on the Quomps for many years now. It is organised and run entirely by volunteers and we receive no financial help from the council or any other body.
Our aim is to provide a lovely day of family friendly entertainment in the beautiful surroundings of Christchurch Quay and donate any surplus income to charity—we have donated well in excess of £20k over the years. Running over three days, we usually have about 15 bands on stage over the weekend and dance troupes about the town on the Saturday of the festival.
We are often asked why we have to charge an entrance fee and the answer is a simple one; the Festival costs thousands of pounds to put on and we receive no help from the council. We are always grateful to our sponsors, Chritax Taxis and Absolute Music for the financial assistance and loan of equipment that they give us — thank you, guys.
However, the most important friends of the Festival are the musicians; without them we would be nothing. All the local bands donate their time and talent free of charge, so please support live music in the area, go and see them in the pubs and clubs, book them for your weddings and parties, buy their CDs and buy them a drink when you can!
Please note that licensing laws prohibit alcohol being brought onto the site. Sorry.
